In the upcoming days and weeks, we’ll see Republicans avoid issues like national unemployment as much as possible. According to CBS MoneyWatch:
Good news on jobs and no, that’s not a typo. The Labor Department reported that 120,000 new jobs were added in November and the unemployment rate dropped to 8.6 percent, the lowest rate since March 2009. There was also a pleasant surprise in terms of the past two months: an additional 72,000 jobs were added in those months.
It takes plenty of coaching to to teach Republican officials how to respond to the recent protests, concerns, and progress across the country. Now that they’re in the position to defend the corporate powers that elected them, they’re desperate for any sort of defense.

Frank Luntz is the right-wing strategist who invents terms like "Global Climate Change" so it will sound less concerning.
Frank Luntz, the right-wing word manipulation specialist, is actively engaged in coaching Republican office-holders across the country on how to avoid addressing any of the important issues. He advises Republicans to lie to protesters that they “get it” and to never use words like “compromise”.
This is nothing new. People like Luntz have always used euphemisms like “free market” and “small government” as code words for corporate handouts. Listen to the Republican presidential candidates to hear the finely tuned jargon they use to protect the wealthiest 1%:
- After nine debates and countless campaign appearances, no Republican candidate has presented a plan to put Americans back to work.
- Rick Perry’s tax plan would give millionaires a $510,000 tax break at the expense of working families.
- Mitt Romney’s plan will privatize Medicare, eliminate living wage requirements, and cut funding for preventive health care, all while giving tax breaks to corporations, whom he thinks we should considers people.
A number of Texas and Denton County Republicans, like Burt Solomons of Carrollton, are choosing to just drop out rather than stay in and face these challenges.
Denton County Democrats are not going to sit on the sidelines and watch as the opposing side dodges the issues. Keep track of our Facebook page throughout the next month as our new field of candidates emerges. We will not ignore the concerns of so many Americans like others have.
If Republicans are going to listen to a coach that tells them to avoid the issues rather than address them, we’re going to confront them head-on.
