Election Worker Info

  • Election workers are trained volunteers who work at one of Denton County’s many polling sites during early voting and on an election day.

Voters rely on Election Workers to print out ballots and process paperwork, answer questions and ensure their vote is properly recorded and returned to the Denton County Elections Administration.

  • Election Workers are divided into three roles: Presiding Judge, Alternate Judge and Election Clerk.

A Presiding Judge is responsible for assembling a team – called Election Clerks – for their polling location. Other responsibilities include (but are NOT limited to): developing a work schedules for their team; setting up election equipment for their polling location; resolving and reporting voter issues, and ensuring voter protection and election integrity.

An Alternate Judge serves as the Presiding Judge’s backup and typically has the duties of an Election Clerk. However, an Alternate Judge is also responsible for any additional duties assigned to them by the Presiding Judge.

Election Clerks sign in voters, print ballots, provide voting instructions, and answer voters’ questions.

  • All hours and compensation are set by the Denton County Elections Administration. Contact them for details at elections@dentoncounty.gov.
